Feldenkrais Classes for the Fall

Want to try something new to keep your body moving?  Give Feldenkrais a try!

Feldenkrais exercises improve the body without stretching or muscular effort. The movements are remarkably gentle and done slowly, which contradicts almost every other physical exercise modality. With the Feldenkrais Method, improvements can seem to take place magically, easily, and often immediately. But why? How exactly does this remarkable form of exercise and treatments work? And, what can you do to increase its effectiveness and preserve its benefits for the longest possible time.

Clay on Main was happy to be represented at the Maidencreek Old-Time Music Festival on July 10th, 2016.  It was our second year attending the event, with fearless leader Dolores Kirschner manning a stand and demonstrating ceramics to passersby.  This event is held every year at Maier’s Grove in Blandon, PA.  Clay on Main adds a unique element to the music themed festival, and we were just so glad to participate!

John Paul II Center gets excited about the new mural at Clay on Main

As many CoM supporters know, we see students from the John Paul II Center from time to time in the studio as they join Dolores and other studio volunteers to explore their creativity through clay.  We’ve been fortunate to organize a mural project with the JPII Center and Nancy Yeager, poet laureate, who wrote a poem inspired by statements from the students.  The mural itself is slated to be completed in the Fall of 2016.

The Center updated their students, faculty, and family members to the potential design of the mural as well.  Check out what they have to say about the project here!

Also, check back often as we update the timeline and the grand unveiling of this great project involving Clay on Main, poet laureate Nancy Yeager, and the John Paul II Center.

Birdie Zoltan Notions II Exhibition

Notions II
Birdie Zoltan

Clay on Main is pleased to present an exhibition of recent work by Birdie Zoltan, a continuing investigation into the world of unrepentant whimsy and artistic invention. In the “Notions II” exhibition, Birdie is just plain having fun by giving wacky but oddly appropriate identities to discovered objects.
According to Zoltan, “I create sculptural personalities of fantasy.” She works primarily with the “notion of the button and is drawn to everyday objects that are eager to assume new identities and new roles in their existence. The mood of each piece arises intuitively from a wide variety of personally chosen materials and innovative techniques. Reflecting on her work, Zoltan remarks, “Through art, I am able to recreate my life experiences in sculpture. My family of a dozen siblings remains my greatest source of inspiration. This and my sense of material curiosity is what fuel my art.”

The exhibition runs from Sunday February 21st to March 27th. The opening reception is Sunday February 21st from 4 to 6 PM. Snow date is Sunday February 28th.
