Instructor Spotlight: Liz Wheeler

If you’re interested in our Foundations in Clay, Wheel Throwing Class, or stop in during Open Studio time, you’re bound to see Liz.  But what makes Liz drawn to working in clay?  Find out a little more about what makes her tick!


Liz Wheeler studied ceramics at Bennington College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and spent three summers at the Ox-Bow Summer School of Art in Michigan. She also studied philosophy with a concentration in art theory at Binghamton University, earning a Master’s degree in the Philosophy, Interpretation and Culture department. She has lived in the Lehigh Valley since 2004, and has been involved in the arts, education, and yoga; she worked at Touchstone Theatre, was part of creating SevenGenerations Charter School, and taught yoga and mindfulness. She is the managing director of Clay on Main, where she is also an instructor, and exhibits locally and regionally.
