Clay on Main invites you to our annual fundraiser, Jammin’ for Dollars to be held on Friday, April 17th at Clay on Main.

Doors open at 6 PM for appetizers and silent auction preview.
This relaxing evening includes dinner; a silent auction and an after dinner jam with your friends and neighbors.

Support Clay on Main while you enjoy homemade treats and listen to the music of local singer/songwriters.  If you play an instrument bring it along and jam – or just listen!

Hand Crafted Soap and Ceramic Soap Dish

Join instructors Linda Hoover and Lizzie Wenrich to learn the craft of making cold process natural soap and a simple soap dish.  An ideal opportunity for home school students to combine science with a fun project and for anyone who desires learning the process.  Students will learn safety steps and the chemistry of making soap by the method used before commercial “soaps” were available.  Essential oils and their benefits will be explored. The instructor will prepare a batch of soap while teaching the process and each student will receive a portion to scent with essential oils as desired. A personalized ceramic soap dish will also be made and decorated by each participant.  Both items available for pick up at a later date.

$50 for adults, $30 for school aged children aged 10-14 years old..  Register at least one week prior to class to ensure enrollment.  A full refund will be given for any cancelled workshops.  $10 additional material cost paid on day of workshop.  Unless otherwise noted, workshops are open to all ages, but children 12 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Tie Dyeing Workshop

Bring your own shirts, reusable bags, or other fabric items and learn how to tie dye like a pro!  Dolores Kirschner will lead this fun, messy workshop introducing the world of colored dyes and how much fun a morning spent tie-dyeing can be! $50 for adults, $30 for school-aged children.

Ceramic Birdhouse Series, 4 Classes starting 2/1

Join ceramics instructor Dolores Kirschner during this 4-part series where participants will learn the ins and outs of ceramic birdhouse building!  Create your own birdhouse, learning what size and dimensions your house should have according to the avian visitors to your yard.  First session explores the beginnings of slab building, the process of using clay slabs to construct complex structures. The second session continues with slab building and joining techniques, while the third and fourth session explores finishing and surface decoration for your newly built abode.  Invite wildlife to your backyard through this simple and fun clay activity!  Finished bird houses will be fired and completed to be picked up at a later date.  Tea and cookies will be offered during work sessions.

All ages are welcome, but students 12 and younger need to be accompanied by an adult.

Bread from Scratch Workshop w/ The Oley Baker

Instructors: Pam and Tom Kopel of The Oley Baker

Tom and Pam, also known as “the Oley Baker,” will share their knowledge about all things bread-related in this tasty workshop. You’ll learn all about leavening, kneading, and baking, including how to create your own sourdough starter, and how to harvest yeast from the air.

Create Your Own Talismans

Explore your personal talisman and symbology near the Winter Solstice with Dolores Kirschner, who will guide you through the process of sculpting and creating a small talisman of your very own to take home.

Crafting Grab Bag

Come out to Clay on Main for a day of experimentation.  We’ll have at least three different crafting projects (ceramics, glass, fibers!) all set up, and  you can try as many as you’d like.  This is a great way to spend time together as a family and learn a new craft!

Encaustic Painting Workshop

Surround yourself with the heavenly smell of beeswax, while crafting a richly layered, gorgeous painting.  Encaustic is an ancient technique used by contemporary artists, where molten beeswax and resin over paint create luminous effects. This technique creates depth because of its multiple layers.  Come with an idea or just let instructor Lisa Gauker and the medium guide your creative process.  No painting experience necessary.  Previous students welcome. Children ages 12+ welcome.

Creative Wreath-making

Get creative with materials as you dive into making that perfect wreath to hang on your door!  Alizabeth Wenrich will guide you through the process and you can expect to take home your project to enjoy!

Fused Glass Bowls Workshop

Come create a luminous and functional work of art. Liz Wheeler will lead you through the process of using brightly colored glass to create simple patterns. All work is done at room temperature and is accessible to students ages 4 and up of all skill levels. Your creations will be fired and available for later pickup. Fused glass creations are utterly lovely with an inviting surface – you’re sure to be pleased!
