Here’s a little bit about Betsy and what makes her so great for the Uke Jams!:

Betsy Manning is an avid ukulele player and singer. She began playing in April 2015 after purchasing a Kala Concert ukulele from Funky Frets in Boyertown. She became a regular participant in local ukulele jams including the Clay on Main’s Monthly Ukulele Jam.

Her singing background is a great asset. She now leads Uke jams for Philadelphia Main Line Ukulele Group at various locations. She enjoys helping new players on their own ukulele journey. Combining her graphic design abilities and her love of diverse music Betsy enjoys creating song sheets.

Betsy sang with The Ringing Hills Chorus of Sweet Adelines International and sang lead with the Del-Val’s, a Doo-Wop a capella group.

Betsy was born in Scranton, PA. She studied at the Art Students League of NY, holds a BFA from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and a Certificate in Digital Design from Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She has worked as an exhibit designer, a muralist, a toy sculptor, a sports collectors’ trading card designer, and a food-packaging designer.

Betsy has retired from her visual art pursuits, and often plays ukulele several hours a day. She believes in the therapeutic value of music and ukulele playing in particular.

Betsy lives in Pottstown, PA and is owned by one very opinionated and messy cockatiel.

Her first instruction to new players: Relax! This gets easier!
