It’s a GIVING time of year!

Every year Clay on Main sends out it’s Annual Appeal letter, which includes updates on projects happening around the studio and different events we’ve held. Needless to say, it’s been another busy year!  This is because of the hard work of many and donations to keep our events running.

We couldn’t do all the things we do without YOU!  Please read our Annual Appeal, and we hope to see you in the studio!

Join together at Clay on Main!

Recent events have made the future a little uncertain, ok- a little scary, really.  But we’re here to help through a rough time.

Join us as we gather to share our experiences and collage our way to healing.  This is a FREE event.

Clay on Main will host an Open Studio – with materials to create a collage. No art experience is necessary. Let the healing power of the images help you see your path forward.

Give Thanks in November!

The season for thanks is upon us and as the last leaves fall to the ground, we head inside our warm homes to spend darkened hours with family and friends.

This time of year is a great time to begin focusing on the approaching holiday season.  Clay on Main keeps it’s doors open and it’s studio warm and bright while offering holiday workshops, handmade gifts, and informative lectures.  Check out what’s coming up in November and December at the Half Moon Cafe HERE, and elsewhere in the studio HERE.

Pick up something unique for special loved ones in your life at our Holiday Boutique, ongoing through December, or give the gift of knowledge by signing someone up for one of our wonderful workshops, happening now through Spring 2017.

Most of all, give THANKS, today, tomorrow, and everyday.  Clay on Main thanks all those who help us throughout the year.

Clay on Main Fosters an Environment to Grow and Learn

As many of you studio-goers know, Clay on Main sees many visitors through it’s doors.  We have been fortunate enough to foster the type of learning environment that allows children and adults alike to create in clay, while exploring ideas and developing a comfort level with the medium.  To say that working with clay is therapeutic is an understatement!  Just like a warm home-cooked meal, clay has the ability to draw us together and open up our senses.

We’ve always taken pride in the good that a little hunk of clay in warm hands can do.  Last Spring, the studio hosted The Sisterhood of Reading, a lovely collective of ladies who are creating a positive environment for African-American women in the area through mentorship. They wasted no time in creating beautiful clay mugs, as well as painting handmade bowls for the ‘Souper Bowl’, Opportunity House’s annual fundraiser.  They were happy to share some of their photos with us on our Facebook page recently, and we’re happy to share them with you!

We always love new faces, but our hope is that new faces become long recognized faces as we see them come back again and again!

Check out a little of what the ladies from The Sisterhood of Reading created at Clay on Main:

Volunteers Wanted! We need YOU!

Volunteers are needed at Clay on Main and various other locations for the following events:

Half Moon hospitality crew:  Our Half Moon Cafe events need a hospitality host the night of each show during the Fall season.

A list of dates for each show, as well as performing act can be found here.  To understand what that may require, take a look at our quick checklist for volunteers: Half Moon Hospitality List.

We also need volunteers for a community outreach project at the Keim Homestead Music Fest on OCTOBER 1st.  The activities are from 11 to 5pm, and we will need help through out the day.  We will set up our usual make and take it activity, and everything will be explained, so no experience is necessary.

Think you’d like to do this?  Contact us via Dolores Kirschner (dlrs.kirschner@gmail.com), or by calling the studio at 610-987-0273.

We can’t do it without you, so thanks!

Feldenkrais Classes for the Fall

Want to try something new to keep your body moving?  Give Feldenkrais a try!

Feldenkrais exercises improve the body without stretching or muscular effort. The movements are remarkably gentle and done slowly, which contradicts almost every other physical exercise modality. With the Feldenkrais Method, improvements can seem to take place magically, easily, and often immediately. But why? How exactly does this remarkable form of exercise and treatments work? And, what can you do to increase its effectiveness and preserve its benefits for the longest possible time.

Clay on Main was happy to be represented at the Maidencreek Old-Time Music Festival on July 10th, 2016.  It was our second year attending the event, with fearless leader Dolores Kirschner manning a stand and demonstrating ceramics to passersby.  This event is held every year at Maier’s Grove in Blandon, PA.  Clay on Main adds a unique element to the music themed festival, and we were just so glad to participate!
